Hello, all!!
Before I jump back in to new stories, I wanted to do a recap and provide a little information moving forward, since it's been so long!
For those of you who are joining us for the first time, welcome!! For those of you coming back after being on this journey with me from the beginning, thanks for sticking around!
Just a reminder that there is a blanket trigger warning moving forward with reading my blog posts. Many of the subjects discussed are sensitive and can include but are not limited to abuse, sexual assault, children with mental health disorders, neglect, domestic violence, and drug use. If at any point during your reading of these true mental health situations you start to feel overwhelmed or triggered, please take a break or move to another post. Take care of your own mental health first.
The mission with this blog is to share my experiences working in mental health as well as spread awareness and break the stigma associated with mental health. I share specific stories of patients and their experiences with mental health from my point of view.
I have been working in mental health since 2013. I started as a mental health nurse in a pediatric residential facility (which I loved). I then went to work for two years on a pediatric inpatient unit. I graduated in 2020 with my Master's degree in nursing and now practice as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I've had experience in alcohol and drug treatment, inpatient, outpatient, residential, PHP/IOP, and adult care. However, my specialty and where my heart is, is with pediatric trauma and parenting.
If while reading throughout this blog, you have questions or concerns about anything mental health related, please feel free to reach out to me. I love collaborating with others and getting other opinions and hearing your stories.
I hope you find this blog helpful!
Remember: you matter, I'm here for you, and are not alone!
